HOW WE STARTED

Established in 1946, Volys Star was amongst the first poultry producers in Belgium.
It’s believe in the future of the industry and it’s inherent drive to add value to a ‘chicken’, made it to become a pioneer in the value added poultry business.

It continuously applied all new technology that became available and was amongst the first to cut up birds instead of selling them as a whole bird.

BECOMING A PREMIUM POULTRY MEAT PRODUCER

Changing it’s business from a slaughterhouse to a meat processing facility was a tremendous shift. 
At that time nobody was deboning chicken, the birds were too small anyway.
So we decided to grow turkeys, bigger birds, and first in Europe we pioneered slaughtering and deboning them. The necessary equipment was developed together with our suppliers.

All this to realize our ambition : add value to poultry.

 

HOW IT EVOLVED

In its continuous drive to add value, Volys Star started to experiment with poultry based deli products (cold cuts) – a breakthrough innovation while those products at that time were only made from pork.

Volys Star succeeded to convert it’s business model : moving from a chicken slaughterhouse to a premium quality poultry meat processor adding value.
